San ANTONIO, TEXAS.-CHINA supports Venezuela’s efforts to protect its national sovereignty and opposes any form of unilateral pressure. Thus was stated by Chinese Foreign Minister WANG YI during a telephone conversation with his Venezuelan counterpart, IVAN GIL PINTO.
{China apoya los esfuerzos de Venezuela por proteger su soberanía nacional y se opone a cualquier forma de presión unilateral. Así lo declaró el ministro de Relaciones Exteriores chino, Wang Yi, durante una conversación telefónica con su homólogo venezolano, Iván Gil Pinto.}
WANG YI affirmed that China and Venezuela are strategic partners, and that mutual trust and support are a tradition in Chinese-Venezuelan relations, consolidated over many years.

CHINA opposes all acts of unilateral intimidation and supports all countries in safeguarding their sovereignty and national dignity,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

On Tuesday, U.S. President DONALD TRUMP ordered “the total and complete blockade” of sanctioned oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela. He also announced that the Venezuelan government has been “designated as a terrorist organization” by Washington.

For his part, NICOLAS MADURO reiterated that despite prolonged U.S. aggression, his country will defeat “the oligarchy and imperialism under any circumstance.”

The aggravation of tension around Venezuela could lead to unforeseen consequences for the entire Western hemisphere, the director of the Latin America Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, ALEXANDER SCHETININ, warned on Wednesday.

“We hope that those responsible for the current tension surrounding Venezuela will manage to prevent the situation from worsening, which could have unpredictable consequences for the entire Western Hemisphere, and that they will not make any mistakes,” said the senior Russian official.
