“This [Constitutional] Chamber considers that there are elements indicating that the president is unable to perform his duties, […], and this Chamber also considers that Article 239.6 of the Constitution assigns to the executive vice president the function of replacing the president in the event of temporary absence,” the statement said.

On Saturday, the US launched a massive military action against the Latin American nation, affecting the city of Caracas “and the states of Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira” and culminating in the kidnapping of the country’s president, NICOLAS MADURO, and his wife.

Many countries around the world, including Russia, urged the release of Maduro and his wife. Moscow condemned the attack and said that Venezuela should have the right to decide its own destiny without any outside interference, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday, commenting on the US attack on the Bolivarian country.
