San Antonio, TEXAS.-By placing Mexico on the list of countries considered “adversaries” of the US during a meeting with senators, US Attorney General Pam Bondi caused quite a stir. She classified Mexico as an enemy of the US, along with Iran, China, and Russia.
{Por colocar a México, en la -lista- de países considerados “adversarios” de U.S., en encuentro con senadores, PAM BONDI, fiscal general de U.S. causó bastante revuelo. Respecto a México, que lo ubica como -enemigo -de U.S., junto con Irán, China y Rusia.}
“TRUMP has said it loud and clear: They will not intimidate us, and we will keep the United States safe. Not only from Iran, but also from Russia, China, and Mexico. From any adversary that tries to kill us or drug our children. (…) From any foreign adversary, whether they try to kill us physically or by drugging our children,” said BONDI.
{“TRUMP lo ha dicho alto y claro: No nos intimidarán y mantendremos a Estados Unidos seguro. No solo de Irán, sino también de Rusia, China y México. She also stated in her appearance before the Senate Expenditure Committee, that: the United States will take a firm stance against any nation that poses a threat to its sovereignty.

The U.S. official’s comments come after the Treasury Department accused three Mexican banking institutions of participating in money laundering, in favor of groups involved in fentanyl trafficking between Mexico and the United States.
{Los comentarios de la funcionaria estadounidense se dan, luego de que el Departamento del Tesoro acusara a tres instituciones bancarias mexicanas de participar en el lavado de dinero. A favor de grupos involucrados con el tráfico de fentanilo entre México y Estados Unidos.}
PAM BONDI praised President DONALD TRUMP’s leadership in the face of international crises, such as the conflict in the Middle East, and highlighted his role in protecting citizens from external threats, including the drug overdose epidemic.

At the meeting, the prosecutor avoided answering directly when asked if the Mexican government was cooperating to address the drug trafficking crisis. She only pointed out that Mexico and Canada are being evaluated for their role in combating fentanyl trafficking into US territory.

“We are fighting to protect ourselves from the precursors (of fentanyl) that are coming in. They continue to send them through Mexico and Canada, on ships through our ports of entry into our country. It’s something we all have to work together to stop,” she insisted.

As one of his first actions, DONALD TRUMP imposed tariffs on both Mexico and Canada. Upon his return to the White House as a means of pressuring both countries to curb the trafficking of fentanyl and migrants.

In addition, TRUMP declared the Mexican cartels to be terrorist organizations, including the Sinaloa Cartel, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, and the Gulf Cartel.

From the nation’s capital, Mexico City, President CLAUDIA SHEINBAUM PARDO stated that the Treasury Department -did not- provide ‘proof’ of money laundering by Vector, CIBanco, and Intercam.
{Desde la capital del país, Ciudad de México, la Presidenta CLAUDIA SHEINBAUM PARDO, afirmó que el Departamento del Tesoro -no- proporcionó ‘pruebas’ de lavado de dinero de Vector, CIBanco e Intercam.}
However, she said that the Ministry of Finance would initiate an investigation. And if the illicit is proven, there will even be criminal charges. But “there is no proof, only statements”, she stressed. (…) Mexico, she stressed, “is nobody’s piñata. Mexico is respected”.

She pointed out that the Treasury Department only provided information on transfers between Chinese companies -legally incorporated- with Mexican firms, through those banking institutions. But “there is no hard evidence. So we neither deny nor accept it, there is simply no proof”.
{Señaló que el Departamento del Tesoro solo proporcionó información de transferencias entre empresas chinas -legalmente constituidas- con firmas mexicanas, a través de esas instituciones bancarias. Pero “no hay pruebas contundentes. Entonces ni negamos, ni lo aceptamos, sencillamente no hay pruebas”.}
The President said that in view of the information published yesterday by the Treasury Department. “We decided with the Treasury Department to request more information. Because most of the information that came in was about transfers from Chinese companies to Mexican companies” through these banking institutions.

She affirmed that the Chinese companies “that are even mentioned in yesterday’s communiqué are legally incorporated”. She indicated that Mexico has a trade with China of 139 billion dollars in 2024.

“So mentioning financial transfers with Chinese institutions, legally constituted through these financial institutions with Mexican companies, is not proof of money laundering. But simply transfers, like thousands of transfers that are made every day between Chinese companies and Mexican companies”.
