San ANTONIO, TEXAS.-The President of the Spanish Government, PEDRO SANCHEZ, launched a harsh criticism of Israel and the administration of BENJAMÍN NETANYAHU on Thursday. He warned them that the strategy of war against “terrorism” that they are pursuing in the Palestinian territories “is deeply misguided.”
{El Presidente del Gobierno de España, PEDRO SÁNCHEZ, lanzó este jueves una dura crítica a Israel y a la administración de BENJAMÍN NETANYAHU. Al -advertirles- que la estrategia de guerra contra el “terrorismo” que mantiene en los territorios de Palestina “está profundamente equivocada”.}
“We have suffered different terrorism, and we know how to defeat the terrorism, and certainly it is not defeated as is doing Israel, the government of NETANYAHU, it is not defeated as making an indiscriminate attack on the civilian population with more than 60,000 dead”, said SANCHEZ at a press conference from Madrid. After a meeting with the German Chancellor, FRIEDRICH MERZ.
{“Nosotros hemos sufrido distintos terrorismos y sabemos cómo vencer al terrorismo y desde luego no se le vence como está haciendo Israel, el gobierno de NETANYAHU, no se le vence como haciendo un ataque indiscriminado sobre la población civil con más de 60.000 muertos”, expresó SÁNCHEZ, en una conferencia de prensa desde Madrid. Tras una reunión con el canciller alemán, FRIEDRICH MERZ.}
SÁNCHEZ pointed out that the result of Israel’s aggression against Palestinian settlements will cause Israel to become “more isolated” and “more insecure,” with a region that will be more unstable than it was before “the Hamas attack two years ago.”
{SÁNCHEZ señaló que el resultado de la agresión israelí sobre los asentamientos palestinos va a provocar que Israel quede “más aislada” y “más insegura”.Con una región que será más inestable de lo que ya era antes de que ocurriera “el atentado de Hamás hace dos años”.}
“Therefore, I think it is very important to convey to the Government of Israel that its strategy is profoundly wrong. Because it is not guaranteeing the security of its citizens and because it is aggravating the situation, not only for the Palestinian people, but also for the region as a whole”, added the Spanish leader.
{“Por eso, creo que es muy importante trasladar al Gobierno de Israel que su estrategia está profundamente equivocada, porque no está garantizando la seguridad de sus conciudadanos y porque está agravando la situación, no solamente para con el pueblo palestino, sino también para el conjunto de la región”, añadió el mandatario español.}
SANCHEZ also said that it is fundamental for Spain to enforce international humanitarian law. And so it has become a country “very focal in this crisis”.
{SÁNCHEZ también dijo que para España es fundamental hacer respetar el derecho internacional humanitario. Y por ello se ha convertido en un país “muy focal en esta crisis”.}
“From a geopolitical point of view, we are concerned and perturbed about the stability of such an important region. As it is the south of Europe and of course, the Mediterranean basin.”

“We will continue to be active so that, as soon as possible, the violence ceases, peace arrives, humanitarian aid is allowed in, and, of course, we can move toward a two-state solution. A solution that, I insist, must allow for the peaceful and secure coexistence of two peoples that we love and admire, namely the Palestinian people and the people of Israel,” added SÁNCHEZ.

Whom recalled that for Spain, what is happening in Gaza “is genocide,” which has even been recognized as such by the United Nations (UN) and more than 80% of Spanish society.

Regarding Germany’s position, the German chancellor pointed out that although his country’s federal government has “a very clear position at heart”. Because “it is on Israel’s side” in the current conflict, that “does not mean agreeing with all the decisions made by the Israeli government.”
{En cuanto a la postura de Alemania, el canciller alemán señaló que, aunque el Gobierno federal de su país tiene «una postura muy clara en su corazón» porque «está del lado de Israel» en el conflicto actual. In this regard, FREIDRICH MERZ said that with regard to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, he shares with Spain “great concern about the humanitarian situation, in Gaza, and the current ground offensive by the Israeli Armed Forces in Gaza.”
{En ese sentido, FREIDRICH MERZ dijo que con respecto al conflicto israelí-palestino comparte con España “la gran preocupación por la situación humanitaria en Gaza y la actual ofensiva terrestre de las Fuerzas Armadas de Israel en Gaza”.}
“We also fear that there may be steps toward annexation (by Israel) in the West Bank (Palestinian territory), which would make the two-state solution even more difficult, and we want the two-state solution to remain a possibility,” he expresses.

MERZ also clarified that Germany is not currently considering granting the recognition of a Palestinian state, as Spain has done. “For us, such recognition should be one of the last steps on the road to a solution by states”.
