For his part, Russian President VLADIMIR PUTIN visited a command post of the joint forces group, where he met with Chief of Staff VALERI GUERASIMOV and the commanders of the troop groups, who briefed the supreme commander-in-chief on the situation on the line of contact, the agency reported.

It was reported that up to 5,000 Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel are surrounded in the Kupiansk area, in the province of Kharkiv, and 5,500 in Krasnoarmeisk (known in Ukraine as Pokrovsk), in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
