Russian President VLADIMIR PUTIN told his US counterpart, DONALD TRUMP, that Russia continues to seek a solution to the Ukrainian conflict through negotiations, as stated to Russian presidential adviser YURI USHAKOV. He added that the dialogue between the leaders lasted almost an hour and “was sincere and concrete.”

{El Presidente de Rusia, VLADÍMIR PUTIN, señaló a su homólogo estadounidense, DONALD TRUMP, que Rusia sigue buscando una solución al conflicto ucraniano a través de negociaciones, informó el asesor presidencial ruso, YURI USHAKOV. Agregó que el diálogo entre los dirigentes duró casi una hora y “fue sincero y concreto”.}

During the call, DONALD TRUMP raised the issue of an early cessation of hostilities in Ukraine, the Russian presidential adviser reported. VLADIMIR PUTIN, in turn, told his counterpart that Russia is still trying to negotiate.

{Durante la llamada, Donald Trump planteó la cuestión de un cese temprano de las hostilidades en Ucrania, según informó el asesor presidencial ruso. Vladímir Putin, a su vez, le dijo a su homólogo que Rusia sigue intentando negociar.}

However, the Russian and US presidents did not discuss the specific content of a possible third round of negotiations between Moscow and Kiev, the Russian adviser said, stressing that Russia is ready to hold another meeting.

{Sin embargo, los presidentes ruso y estadounidense no discutieron el contenido concreto de una posible tercera ronda de negociaciones entre Moscú y Kiev, declaró el asesor ruso, subrayando que Rusia está dispuesta a celebrar otra reunión.}

In addition, PUTIN and TRUMP discussed in depth the situation surrounding Iran, Syria, and the Middle East in general, USHAKOV said, “The situation surrounding Iran and the Middle East as a whole was discussed in depth.”

The Russian side emphasized the importance of resolving all contentious issues, disagreements, and conflict situations exclusively through political and diplomatic means.

They agreed to continue discussions on this matter through the foreign affairs departments, the defense ministries, and between presidential aides,” he explained.

“In general, I would like to point out that the conversation between the presidents [of Russia and the US], as is always the case between these leaders, was on the same wavelength, frank, businesslike, and concrete. This is the fifth conversation since DONALD TRUMP took office as president in January 2025. On February 12, the first telephone conversation between the presidents of Russia and the US since 2022 took place. PUTIN discussed bilateral relations and the Ukrainian issue, as well as the situation in the Middle East and Iran’s nuclear program.
