The UNIVERSE News, and EL UNIVERSO ask the next question: How should we interpret the fact that RIGOBERTO GUEVARA VAZQUEZ, leader of the SNTE in Tamaulipas, seeks at any price to impose at the teacher ABELARDO IBARRA, as Secretary General, on the SNTE?.
‘SNTE’: ”Look, we have indications that RIGO is looking to become a ‘bigger elector’ in the succession of Section XXX. It is obviously a decision of the leadership. This is banishing from the SNTE at the national level. It contradicts: the spirit of the new labor reform.”
“What President OBRADOR wants is for the workers of basis, to elect their leaders. Avoiding that it is a decision of the upper echelons. So that the workers feel authentically represented.”
“Tamaulipas is not an easy state for impositions. Especially in these times of the 4T. Perhaps RIGO, and the CABEZA DE VACA brotherhood, will try. But, ABELARDO IBARRA would be the continuation of the repressive practices of the former PAN Governor.”
‘TUN’: ”Since last October 1, the operators of the National SNTE have been working in the State(TAMAULIPAS), trying to tip the balance in favor of ABELARDO IBARRA : They have the approval of the national leader of the SNTE, ALFONSO CEPEDA SALAS?.”
‘SNTE’: ” No, no, no. We have just told you that these practices of the leadership are not encouraged. Nor does Teacher CEPEDA allow them. We have already had, several elections in various states of the republic, and it is the base of workers, they decide who will be their leaders.”
“We cannot go back to those practices of the past, which did much harm to teachers throughout the country. Professor CEPEDA’s mentality, which he puts into practice in union democracy, is that the rank-and-file workers elect their leaders.”
‘TUN’: What is the hidden purpose of RIGO to try to impose in the General Secretary. When it is known that ABELARDO IBARRA has been involved in a trafficking of places, sale of positions, and other vices imposed on him, by former Governors EGIDIO TORRE and CABEZA DE VACA?”.
‘SNTE’: “What we can tell you with absolute certainty, is that behind RIGO, there are huge economic interests, alien to the union organization, that move around him and his role, to impose his successor. In this case, in favor of ABELARDO IBARRA.”
‘TUN’: “If you say that the SNTE is democratic. And that it will comply with President OBRADOR’s Labor Reform. So what is the meaning of that photograph of the current Governor AMERICO VILLARREAL and ABELARDO IBARRA, spread in social networks and some media?.
‘SNTE’: “We believe it was a not ill-intentioned slip of the Governor of MORENA, AMERICO VILLARREAL ANAYA. When there is no call for the replacement. It does not exist yet. Although -if it does- it and raises many undemocratic suspicions among teachers.”
“Anybody makes a mistake. Even, the geniuses of Mexican politics. AMERICO VILLARREAL ANAYA has said that in Tamaulipas he is going to make President OBRADOR’s theses a reality. Among which he highlights: No Lying, no stealing and no betraying the people. That is very good.”
